You were there all along

So in tonight's episode of Lost, we find out that Eloise Hawking after having shot Daniel Faraday, takes Jack and Kate into her confidence-and tent- and demands to know what they know about what's going on. Jack tells her she wouldn't believe it if they told her. Eloise in turn tells them she remembers a young man coming into her camp when she was 17 year of age, (1954) and telling her she needed to bury a certain bomb (jughead). His name was Daniel Faraday, and she watched him vanish right before her eyes. She points to the fact that this very young man is now laying dead in the middle of her camp, after having told her he is her son!

She is holding Daniel's notebook.

Oxford, 19__?

Eloise Hawking appears at Daniel Faraday's graduation. She requests they have lunch together, at which time she proceeds to hand him a gift. This gift turns out to be a notebook...the very same notebook that will eventually make its way back in time, arriving in 1977 and falling into the hands of none other than Eloise Hawking.

This tells me two things:

1. This is how Eloise Hawking will come to possess so much knowledge about future events and the key players needed to be there in order to make these events occur as they need to.

2. Daniel has been traveling all along. We've all perhaps been traveling all along. It is safe to say, once we begin to piece things together that we've been time traveling for far longer than we thought.

Lets start here, shall we?

1954- Locke meets Widmore for the very first time. Richard meets Locke for the very first time. (although they've already met!)

Locke gives Richard a compass which Richard had previously given Locke in ep 5X12 "Because you Left. (2004)

The island time skips again. (I wont go into all the details, we see everyone skipping around-Locke turns the FDW sending Sawyer & Co. to 1974 and Locke...) Well...

"How long? As long as it takes"-that's how long....

1974- Sawyer & Crew arrive in Dharmaville and convince Horace that they have been shipwrecked and are looking for their crew. They manage to convince everyone of their lie and secure themselves a spot in the Dharma Initiave. Miles I believe, asks Sawyer, how long they're supposed to hang out in Dharmatown waiting for Locke to which a frustrated Sawyer replies...say it with me folks, "As long as it takes!"

Meanwhile...

2004- Locke has been shot in the jungle, he comes to rest on the ground, when seemingly out of nowhere, Richard Alpert appears and sets to the task of removing the bullet from Locke's leg, as he tells him that he needs to get all of the Lostie's back to the island and when Locke asks how, Richard tells him he will need to die. Richard tells Locke he doesn't know how he will do this but that's the scoop my friend.

2007- Locke arrives 3 years into the future in the desert, where an expectant Widmore is anticipating his arrival. (Remember they have met back in 1954).

Bare with me, as I paraphrase;

Widmore: "How long has it been for you since we last met?"

Locke: "4 days"

Widmore: "It's been 30 years"

Locke attempts, and fails to, convince the Lostie's to return to the island. In dispair, he attempts to end his life. Ben shows up, con's him out of vital information, proceeds to kill a disgruntled, depressed, broken Locke, and takes off in hopes of rallying, Sayid, Sun, Jack and Kate back to the island...he succeeds in convincing everyone to go back AND bring Locke's corpse with them

2007- Locke makes it back to the island via coffin, no less, and once he is able to reach Richard, he wastes no time in demanding Richard accompany him on a mission of sorts. But not before asking Richard if he has his compass. Richard comments that while old yes, it can certainly still point north.

Locke insists that Ben come too, and Ben taunts him by asking if he's afraid of a "coup". To this, an amused Locke responds "I'm not in the least bit worried about that, you can't hurt me, nyah nyah" Ok totally paraphrasing and rephrasing there lol...but you get my point, yes? K, moving on...

Who is that man?

So Locke, Richard and Ben head off into the jungle. They come to a stop and Locke tells Richard that a man is about to come out of that jungle and he is wounded. He hands Richard a first aid kit/bag and tells him he will need to heal this man. That this man would ask him what to do next, and that Richard should tell him he needs to bring all of his friends back to the island.

Compass you say, what compass? Oh, this old thing?

So we see here, that just as the notebook seems to have traveled full circle, so has the compass. The Compass came to Richard's possesion in 1954 because Locke gave it to him. Locke gave him this compass because Richard gave it to Locke in 2004...and as we learned tonight...This all happened because Locke had Richard, in 2007 step back in time, to give Locke the compass as some sort of proof that all of this was actually happening. Wow...my brain hurts.

Well, my brain is fried...I will try to put these thoughts together in some sort of chart for time line comparison. I have done it by hand already and a picture is drawing clearer and clearer as to the fact that all signs point to: We've been traveling all along...it's just that it has the nasty side effect to erase our memory.

That is, until you know how to harness the power to time travel perhaps? I'm not sure, but it seems that Locke has found a way to be in two places at once...and I don't know about you but it sure as hell looked to me like we were watching 3 simultaneous time lines...with what's going in 1977, seeing Locke in the jungle in 2004 as Richard, Ben and Locke himself watch the scene from the comforts of 2007...it seems to me like we're in for a hell of a ride next season...and that's without the benefit of knowing what the hey is going to happen in the season finale!

~Namaste to you my friend~
